چکیده

Although simple additive weighting method (SAW) is the most popular approach for classical multiple attribute decision making (MADM), it is not practical any more if information is fuzzy. The existing methods of Fuzzy Simple Additive Weighting method (FSAW) apply defuzzification which distorts fuzzy numbers. Furthermore, most of the methods usually require lengthy and laborious manipulations. In this paper, we develop a new a fuzzy simple additive weighting method for multiple attribute decision making problems. To avoid defuzzification round off errors caused by multiplication or other arithmetic manipulations, fuzzy numbers are ranked prior to any fuzzy arithmetic in this method. The ranking is done by preference ratio concept which compares fuzzy numbers pairwise. Since this method eventually assigns crisp scores to alternatives, it is practical and more realistic. We also present three other algorithms for ranking or normalizing fuzzy numbers which are actually sub algorithms of the main method.

Solving Critical Path Problem in Project Network by a New Enhanced Multi-objective Optimization of Simple Ratio Analysis Approach with Interval Type-2 Fuzzy Sets

Decision making is an important issue in business and project management that assists finding the optimal alternative from a number of feasible alternatives. Decision making requires adequate consideration of uncertainty in projects. In this paper, in order to address uncertainty of project environments, interval type-2 fuzzy sets (IT2FSs) are used. In other words, the rating of each alternativ...

An IOWA Operator Based on Additive Consistency for Group Decision Making

In group decision-making, experts’ preferences are usually expressed by means of fuzzy preference relations. Because not all experts may be capable of maintaining consistency between all the possible pair of feasible options of the problem, it is worthwhile evaluating the degree of inconsistency of a fuzzy preference relation so that more importance can be given to the more consistent experts. ...

Sensitivity Analysis of Simple Additive Weighting Method (SAW): The Results of Change in the Weight of One Attribute on the Final Ranking of Alternatives

Most of data in a multi-attribute decision making (MADM) problem are unstable and changeable, then sensitivity analysis after problem solving can effectively contribute to making accurate decisions. This paper provides a new method for sensitivity analysis of MADM problems so that by using it and changing the weights of attributes, one can determine changes in the final results of a decision ma...

Fuzzy Data Envelopment Analysis for Fuzzy Overall Effectiveness

Aggregating measure scores is an important step in multiple criteria decision-making, determining the overall effectiveness from dissimilar measures. One of the most popular aggregating methods is Simple Additive Weighting (SAW), which assigns weights to measures based on subjective preference information, and sum weighted scores up. The quality of overall score is highly dependent on the quali...

Simple Additive Weighting Methods of Multi criteria Decision Making and Applications: A Decade Review

Various multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) methods have been proposed to solve diverse applications of decision problems. One of the MCDM methods is additive weighting-based method. However, this method is not explicitly disseminated and its applications are not-well received by many MCDM enthusiasts. This paper presents a review of the applications of simple additive weighting (SAW) and fuz...
